
Insurance coverage for lipoprotein apheresis follows specific clinical criteria. You may qualify if you fall into one of the following groups:
Group 1 — Homozygous Familial Hypercholesterolemia (HoFH)
LDL cholesterol above 500 mg/dL despite treatment.
Group 2 — Heterozygous FH with very high LDL
LDL at or above 300 mg/dL despite maximum therapy.
Group 3 — Heterozygous FH with heart or artery disease
LDL at or above 70 mg/dL plus a history of coronary artery disease or peripheral artery disease.
Group 4 — Heterozygous FH with elevated Lp(a) and cardiovascular disease
Lp(a) at or above 60 mg/dL (or 130 nmol/L) plus a history of coronary artery disease or peripheral artery disease.

Step 3 — First treatment
Your first session is 2–4 hours. Our staff will walk you through everything and monitor you closely.
Step 4 — Ongoing treatment
Most patients come in every 1–2 weeks. We track your cholesterol levels after each session and coordinate with your care team.
